I grew up in Atlanta. No one in my family owned cool cameras or wrote stories. Somewhere along the way I got interested in seeing the big world. After a few years teaching field science in national parks and writing and shooting on the side, I took a job as a travel editor with a national Time Inc publication where I worked alongside and learned from inspiring writers and photographers from around the country. Now I'm freelancing as writer, photographer, producer and, more recently, videographer.

For over a decade I've collected portraits and interviews of people I meet. Find this ongoing journal at the 'Meeting People' link.

I live in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge with my wife Christine and daughter Ada. We spend most of our free time biking, hiking, kayaking and finding swimming holes in the Cascade Mountains.
